The GIW partners include the Appalachian Regional Commission, Alabama Department of Agriculture and
Industries, Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Alabama Department of Transportation, Tuskegee University, Alabama State
Department of Education, Auburn University-Montgomery, Alabama Forestry Association, Professional Grounds Management
Society, Alabama Urban Forestry Association, Greater Birmingham Association of Landscape Professionals, Daniel Foundation
of Alabama and many industry suppliers, vendors and Green Industry companies.
Grant Results: during the grant
period ending January 2017, over 3,500 high school Ag teachers and industry members attended live classes, over 1500 recertified
ISA, Registered Forester, Forest Pest Control and other licenses, 600 plus gained an ISA, pesticide license
or industry credential. The credentialed Ag teachers are now teaching the Urban Forestry and Landscape Management content
to their students to encourage them into a Green Industry career.
