Alabama Urban Forestry Education Week October 16-22

October 16, 8:00-4:00- Trees 101 and Day 1 of Urban Forestry Certification Program (UFCP) consists of presentations on pruning, planting, tree ID and selection, trees and construction and more. Location: Orange Beach Community Center. ISA CEUs awarded, lunch on your own.

October 17, 8:00 – 4:00 – Day 2 of UFCP includes presentations on soils, fertilizers, pest management, chainsaw and worker safety, climbing and working in trees and more. Location: Orange Beach Community Center. ISA CEUs awarded, lunch on your own.

October 18, 8:00 – 11:30 – Day 3 of UFCP consists of presentations on  tree risk and assessment, a review and industry certification exam at 10:30. ISA CEUs, lunch @11:30 included. Location: Orange Beach Community Center. Please note that you will need a study guide before Day 1 for best exam results. Contact Fred Kapp @ fkapp@bellsouth.net for the study guide.

October 18, 12:00 – 4:30 – Pesticide Re-Certification class includes presentations on invasive plant ID and management, pests of urban trees, pesticide safety and use and more. Pesticide Re-Cert Points and ISA CEUs, Lunch @11:30 included. Location: Orange Beach Community Center.

October 19, AUFA Annual Conference, Hampton Inn-Orange Beach

October 20, 2:00- 4:30 registration and equipment check-in for Alabama Tree Climbing Competition.

4:45 – 7:00 – On-site registration and check-in, gear check and safety presentation.

October 21 – Climbing Competition, Judges Check-in at 7:00 AM, climbers at 7:30. Events 8:00 – 5:00

October 22 – Master’s Challenge, 7:30 – 2:00

Note: Competitors Fee is $100, judges, volunteers and attendees are NO CHARGE.
